Learning from the book of 2 Timothy, we explored how vision can be reignited when it feels like the fire has faded. Whether one is just discovering Jesus or seeking renewal, this series invites us to rediscover our purpose, passion, and power to live a life that makes a difference. God is calling us to Rekindle his gifts within us. Timothy’s life gives instruction to us as individuals and to us as a Christian community.
- “Live Unashamed” 2 Timothy 1:8-2:2 – Paul gives Timothy his first step in rekindling his fire by telling him to live unashamed. This can be like removing the ash from the coals of a dying fire. We don’t quit, but realize the suffering of Jesus, and our suffering for Jesus, is something to be valued.
- “Work Diligently” 2 Timothy 2:3-15 – The second step is working diligently. This is choosing to pay consistent attention to the fire. Like most worthwhile endeavors, faithfulness to Jesus is hard work, but faithfulness to Jesus is the most worthwhile endeavor to pursue.
- “Be Purified” 2 Timothy 2:16-3:12 – The third step is to be purified. This is putting the right kind of fuel on the fire. We are called to live with purified speech and desires.
- “Live Truth” 2 Timothy 3:13-4:22 – The fourth step is to live truth. This is using the fire for what it is intended, to warm and feed people. We live out the truth we believe when we know the truth, believe the truth, speak the truth, and finish in the truth.
