I think the look of pastors scrambling to figure out how to lead worship in a time of quarantine may present a false idea of what the priorities of The Church are. Our priorities never change.
- Love God (Matthew 22:36-38)
- Love Our Neighbors (Matthew 22:39)
- Make Disciples (Matthew 28:19-20)
What changes in this time is how we might put those priorities into practice. Loving God includes: obedience to God (John 14:15), obedience to the government (Romans 13:1), and loving our neighbors. Making disciples includes: sharing the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus and loving our neighbors (Acts 2:44-47).
- We will love God through obedience:
- We are commanded to not neglect meeting together (Hebrews 10:25), but there is no command regarding how that gathering takes place. Join together on Facebook Live and YouVersion Bible.
- We will obey CDC guidelines to not have public gatherings of more than 10 people.
- We will love our neighbors by:
- Offering healing instead of infection – communicate, encourage, and pray for people
- Sharing generously instead of hoarding
- Continuing to work toward having a successful Blood Drive April 10, 2020, the Clean Kids 2020 Supply Drive for At-Risk Children (Mother’s Day – Father’s Day), and partnering with Northstar Youth Center right now to ensure their services continue. With this as our witness, we will bring life and strength to our community, and continue to make disciples.
